Datsyuk Wins Third Consecutive Lady Byng Trophy

Toronto, ON -- (Sports Network) - Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings won the 2008 Lady Byng Trophy, awarded annually to the player who combines sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct with excellence on the ice.This is the third straight season that Datsyuk, who tallied 31 goals and only collected 20 penalty minutes in 2007-08, has won this award. He played in all 82 regular-season games for Stanley Cup champions. Datsyuk became the first place in more than 70 years to win this award three straight times. He is also the first player since Ron Francis (1995, '96, 2002) to win the trophy three times in his career. Datsyuk received 75 first-place votes, while Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis gained two and Buffalo's Jason Pominville notched three.
