Dallas Stars (0-0-1) At Nashville Predators (0-1-0), 8 P.m.

(Sports Network) - Two teams still in search of their first wins of the season collide tonight, as the Dallas Stars visit the Nashville Predators and the Sommet Center.

Dallas began its season at home on Friday, and after erasing a two-goal deficit in the third period, fell in defeat, 5-4, in overtime to Columbus.

Brad Richards and Trevor Daley each scored in the third to force extra time, but goaltender Marty Turco couldn't handle Rick Nash's wrister from between the circles with 21 seconds remaining in overtime.

Turco ended with 22 saves, while Brenden Morrow and James Neal both scored second-period goals for the Stars, who last season reached the Western Conference finals for the first time since the 1999-2000 campaign. Stephane Robidas recorded three assists and Mike Ribeiro had two helpers.

Sean Avery registered two shots in his Dallas debut.

Nashville netminder Dan Ellis struggled in the Predators' season debut, also on Friday. Handed the starting job when Chris Mason was traded to St. Louis this past offseason, Ellis allowed five goals on just 22 shots faced in a 5-2 setback to the Blues.

Ellis earned the starting gig after going 23-10-3 with a 2.34 goals against average in 44 games. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.88 GAA in three career starts versus the Stars.

Ellis wasn't the only one to blame, as Nashville allowed the Blues to score four times on the power play. Joel Ward and Ryan Suter each posted a goal for Nashville, which made the playoffs last season for the fourth straight year before being ousted in the first round by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Red Wings.

After tonight, the Stars won't play again until they host Nashville on Wednesday, but this is not a home-and-home set, as the Preds play in Chicago on Monday.

Though Nashville took three of four versus the Stars a year ago, Dallas has still won seven of the last 11 in the series.

Turco is 9-5-0 with a tie and 1.87 GAA in 16 career games against Nashville, all but one of those starts.
