Hog's Head Dumped At Former N.J. Sen.'s House

Ammond: 'Is This Just A Joke?'

Police said on Tuesday someone dumped a severed hog's head in front of a former New Jersey state senator's home.

The discovery was made in the front of the home in the Barclay Farm neighborhood in Cherry Hill, Philadelphia TV station WCAU reported. The hog's head was dumped in front of former State Sen. Alene Ammond's home.

"It this just a joke? A sick joke?," Ammond said. "And I don't understand. Whatever it is, why me? Because the police apparently went around to see if there was vandalism, and there was nothing. It was just us -- just this house."

As her family was leaving her home on Sunday, Ammond's guests were confronted with the sight of the severed hog's head.

"Truly, it was very disgusting. It looked like it had been partially roasted anyway, but the snout and the face and the eyes were facing the front door," Ammond said. "So, it was not as if someone just threw it from the road. It was placed there.

Ammond said she was sure the pig's facial placement was no accident. Ammond said it was because she is a critic of government, having recently fought against land deals, a proposed adult video store and has challenged tax issues.

Police said they had never had a case like this before, and they were not aware of a symbolic meaning for a severed hog's head, if one exists. Police said they were investigating the incident.
