In their July 2008 issue, Gourmet magazine editors, Jane and Michael Stern, recognize Price's Chicken Coop in Charlotte as "the best anywhere."

Gourmet describes a visit to Price's as a fried-chicken-eating experience of a lifetime. The hardest decision you may have to make at Price's is what line to stand in and during lunchtime there can be up to six or seven of them.

Gourmet Magazine is the second national publication to recognize Price's in as many years, when Bon Appétit did last summer.

The Sterns' say the amenities are minimal and there's nothing dramatically unusual about the place, but the fried chicken is maximal. "It’s the best in North Carolina, maybe the best in the South—and, therefore, the best anywhere."

Price's has never changed its recipe and has always been quick and cheap. It is a no-nonsense fried chicken joint that has been serving up Charlotte for more than 40 years.
