D'Backs Activate Petit Off DL For Saturday Start

Posted: 12:21 am EDT July 5, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks activated right- hander Yusmeiro Petit from the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday's game versus Colorado.

Petit had been shelved since May 9 with a right shoulder strain. He completed a five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Reno and was 0-1 with a 6.89 earned run average over 15 2/3 innings.

He didn't perform much better in his return to the bigs, lasting just three innings after being touched for four runs on five hits and two walks in a no- decision. The Diamondbacks wound up winning the game, 11-7.

The 24-year-old righty has struggled so far in 2009, posting an 0-3 record to go with an 8.46 ERA in seven games, six of those starts.
