MATTHEWS, N.C. — Myers Park knocked Butler out of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
The Mustangs ran away with a 33-8 win over Butler Friday night in the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4-AA playoffs.
Myers Park avenged its 39-22 loss to the Bulldogs earlier this season.
Myers Park beat Butler 28-24 in 2017 postseason. And just like this season, Butler won that regular-season tilt 28-7.
Butler (9-3) won its previous two games by forfeit and earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Butler is led by Big 22 Player to Watch Keyon Lesane, who has committed to North Carolina State.
Myers Park (12-1) suffered its only loss this season to Butler. The Mustangs routed Providence 55-7 in last week’s first round.
Myers Park is led by Big 22 Player to Watch Elijah Bowick, who is committed to play in college at Virginia Tech.
Myers Park plays Richmond Senior in next week's the West Region semifinals.
