Alexa Ashwell

Alexa Ashwell joined the Eyewitness news team in April 2014 as a reporter.

She came to Charlotte from the Midwest, where she was a reporter in Dayton, Ohio. But, it was in wild, wonderful West Virginia that Alexa began her career in news. She anchored and produced the weekend newscasts, as well as reported during the week. During this time, Alexa had the opportunity to cover some of the biggest stories in the country, including the Upper Big Branch mine explosion that killed 29 miners in 2010, the death of Robert C. Byrd, America’s longest serving Senator, as well as the special election for his replacement.

Alexa grew up in Westminster, Maryland.  Her lifelong passion for sports led her to a career in news.  She attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania on a softball scholarship and graduated with honors, both on the field and in the classroom.

Alexa still plays sports and enjoys watching professional football and baseball, as well as college basketball. She loves people, trying new things and visiting different places. Most importantly, she values spending time with God, family and friends.
