Traffic Team 9's Jamie Bowers updates drivers on current traffic conditions each weekday for Channel 9's “Eyewitness News Daybreak” at 5 & 6 a.m., Channel 9's “Eyewitness News Midday”, and "Eyewitness News This Morning" on TV 64 from 7-9 a.m. In addition to rush hour traffic duties, Jamie reports on road construction and other traffic issues for “Eyewitness News” at 6:00 p.m.
Jamie is "almost" a native Charlottean, having lived in the Queen City since 1st grade. While attending Myers Park High School, he received his first taste of broadcasting through an academic internship at WBT radio. Jamie continued working in radio through his college days at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC, where he was part of the on-air team that won a prestigious Marconi Award from the National Association of Broadcasters.
Since joining the Eyewitness News team in 2000, Jamie has reported on countless accidents, Charlotte's infamous road construction, and helped drivers navigate slick roads during winter storms. In 2004, Jamie was recognized for contributing to a 15 hour, Emmy award winning newscast covering the ice storm of 2003.
In his spare time, Jamie enjoys reading, singing, and going for long walks in the mountains. He is also active at The Church at Charlotte. Jamie and his wife Lolly live in Charlotte.
