Tiffany Wright

Sports anchor Tiffany Wright joined the WSOC-TV Channel 9 Eyewitness News Team November 20, 2000. Born in Tampa, Florida, Wright earned a BA degree in Journalism at the University of Arkansas where she had a full basketball scholarship.

It was in 1998 at the Women's NCAA Final Four that Wright, a senior, was first discovered by ESPN. She was on the floor fighting hard for Arkansas when her mother, in the stands, held up a sign that read "ESPN Please Hire My Daughter, Tiffany Wright, No. 15." Wright laughs recalling the moment. She knew the kind of athlete a network covets... one with a high profile.

Wright determined that she would be working in sports broadcasting by the age of 27. She was five years ahead of her plan when she got her first job as a sports reporter at WLBT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi. She also landed a gig as an analyst on a regional TV package of Arkansas women's basketball games. And she really did spend some time working as a courtside reporter at the WNBA for ESPN... a year after her mother held up the sign.

Wright's broadcast experience includes reporting, anchoring, producing, and shooting video. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, Nugget and Dexter.  Wright is the main sports anchor for Eyewitness News' and TV64's 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. shows.
