Don Griffin

"Action 9" consumer reporter, Don Griffin joined WSOC-TV in October, 1982. A native of Lexington, North Carolina, Don is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he received a B.S. degree in Pre-Law and Political Science.

He also attended Duke University on a fellowship grant in 1991. Don began his career in television at WCCB-TV in 1972. He relocated to WRAL-TV in Raleigh in 1976, where he held positions as both a consumer reporter and general assignment reporter, as well as weekend anchor.

Don has received numerous awards during his career. Most recently, he was recognized with a Silver Circle Award for at least 25 years of excellence in television. The Award was presented by the Nashville chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Two of his "Action 9" segments received Unity Awards, which are given annually by Lincoln University. In addition, Don received an award for "Best Spot News" from the RTNDAC. During his career, Don has been recognized by "Who's Who Among Black Businesses and Professionals."

Don has three sons, Christopher, Sean, and Courtney. He and wife live in Charlotte.
