Brigida Mack

Brigida Mack joined Channel 9 Eyewitness News as a general assignment reporter in August of 2004. You can see her coverage of breaking news, major local news and enterprise news –from anywhere in the Charlotte area – during the week at 10pm on WAXN-TV and 11pm on WSOC-TV. In January 2008, Eyewitness News Sunday Morning debuted with Brigida as the news anchor from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. She also anchors the Sunday noon newscast.

Before coming to Channel 9, Brigida spent two years as an anchor/reporter at WVIR-TV NBC 29 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She learned to report, shoot video and edit her own stories!

Brigida is thrilled to be back in her hometown near family and friends and serving viewers in the Queen City and surrounding area. She has always wanted to be a journalist and if you run into one of her old teachers or friends, they won't hesitate to tell you that! Even as a child, Brigida loved interviewing people and telling stories. She told anyone who'd listen that she wanted to be the "black Barbara Walters."

Brigida was nominated for an Emmy in 2004 for team coverage of Hurricane Frances. She loves chasing weather and has covered several hurricanes, snowstorms and even an earthquake! Brigida has also covered the Virginia Tech shootings, interviewed former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and former President Jimmy Carter.

Brigida received her degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

When she's not working, Brigida enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading and watching college basketball (GO HEELS!).
