WSOC-TV is offering scholarships to future broadcasting students

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WSOC-TV, Channel 9, is offering scholarships to high school students that are interested in getting into the broadcasting career field.

The scholarships, each valued at $350, are given to high-school students to attend a Summer Workshop held at the Carolina School of Broadcasting.  Any student who is either a Junior or Senior in 2018-2019 at a North Carolina or South Carolina high school (or home-schooled in N.C. or S.C.) and who is at least 14 years of age and is earning a minimum GPA of 2.0 overall on a 4-point grading scale in current grade level is eligible to apply.

Each student is asked to submit two personal letters of recommendation and write a short essay explaining why he/she wants to attend the Summer Workshop.

All students will receive the opportunity to meet with and talk with local DJs and on-air talent, visit a radio and television station, get “on mic” and “on camera” along with exposure to the basics of what it takes to work at a broadcast facility.
