Part of Hawthorne Lane closed until end of June

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hawthorne Lane is closed between East 5th Street and East 7th Street.

The street will re-open at 6 p.m. on June 30.

This closure is part of CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction.

Drivers are asked to use East 4th Street, Charlottetowne Avenue, and East 7th Street as detours.

This road closure is part of a series of closures that will occur along Hawthorne Lane.

Work is intended to progress north across East 7th Street and will lead up to the closure of Hawthorne Lane to replace the bridge over Independence Boulevard.

The Charlotte Area Transit System bus route will be affected.

Note: This street closure will replace the current one-lane closure on Hawthorne Lane.
