None - Charlotte's Thunder Road Marathon will cause significant traffic delays in several neighborhoods on Saturday, November 12th. Traffic on more than 40 streets will be impacted, with at least one lane on each street blocked off from early morning through mid-afternoon. Major streets in Uptown, No Da, Plaza-Midwood, Elizabeth, Myers Park, SouthPark, Dilworth, and Wilmore will be impacted.

ALTERNATE ROUTES FOR MAJOR STREETS: The twisty, winding marathon route will make it nearly impossible to avoid marathon-related delays in many Charlotte neighborhoods. Traffic Team 9 has researched alternate routes to help you avoid the worst of the backups on major Charlotte streets. Alternate routes are listed street-by-street, allowing you to find just the information you need.SOUTH TRYON ST. -- various lanes on South Tryon St. will be blocked between Tremont Ave. and 3rd St. Several other nearby streets will also be impacted by the marathon. Use Clanton Rd. to I-77 to Brookshire Freeway as an alternate route between Dilworth/south Charlotte and Uptown. 3rd ST. -- various lanes of 3rd St. will be blocked between Tryon St. and Charlottetowne Ave. Use Stonewall St. to Charlottetowne Ave. as an alternate route between Uptown Charlotte and the Metropolitan/Elizabeth area. 4th ST./RANDOLPH RD. -- various lanes of 4th St. and Randolph Rd. will be closed between Charlottetowne Ave. and Colville Rd., impacting traffic near Presbyterian Hospital. Nearby Providence Rd. and 7th St. will also be affected. Use Independence Blvd. as an alternate route between southeast Charlotte and Uptown. PROVIDENCE RD. -- expect delays on Providence Rd. between Colville Rd. and Sharon Amity Rd. Nearby Randolph Rd. and Sharon Rd. will also be impacted. Use Sardis Rd. to Rama Rd. (continue straight) to Idlewild Rd. (continue straight) to Independence Blvd. (left) as an alternate route between south Charlotte and Uptown. SHARON LANE -- the marathon will impact two sections of Sharon Lane between Providence Rd. and Sharon Rd. Use Fairview Rd. or Wendover Rd. as alternate routes. SHARON RD. -- traffic will be delayed on Sharon Rd. between Sharon Lane, Wendover Rd., and Chilton Place. Nearby Providence Rd. will also be impacted by the marathon. If traveling between SouthPark and the Myers Park area, use Colony Rd. to Selwyn Ave. (you will face marathon delays near Queens Rd. West, but will be able to bypass the delays on Sharon Rd.). If traveling between SouthPark and Uptown, use Fairview Rd. to Tyvola Rd. to South Blvd. as an alternate route. QUEENS RD. WEST -- various lanes will be blocked on Queens Rd. West between Selwyn Ave. and Kings Dr. Use East Blvd. to Kenilworth Ave. to Park Rd. to Woodlawn Rd. to Selwyn Ave. as an alternate route between Myers Park and the Park Rd. Shopping Center area. KINGS DR. -- traffic will be delayed on Kings Dr. between Morehead St.. and East Blvd., including near Carolinas Medical Center. Several nearby streets will also be impacted by the marathon, but to minimize your delay use Morehead St. (toward Providence Rd.) to Queens Rd. (continue straight) to Queens Rd. West (turn right) as an alternate route. MOREHEAD ST. -- Three sections of Morehead St. will be impacted between Kings Dr., McDowell St., and Mint St. Several other nearby streets are also part of the marathon route, so it will be impossible to completely avoid the congestion. To minimize your delay, use Providence Rd. to Charlottetowne Ave. to Stonewall St. as an alternate route between the Myers Park area and Uptown. WEST BLVD. -- various lanes will be blocked on West Blvd. between South Tryon St. and Mint St. Use Clanton Rd. as an alternate route between South Blvd., South Tryon St., and I-77. MINT ST. -- expect delays on Mint St. between West Blvd., Morehead St., and 4th St. If traveling from Wilmore/West Blvd. toward Uptown, use I-77 to Brookshire Freeway as an alternate route. 4th ST. -- various lanes will be blocked on 4th St. between Cedar St. and Mint St. If traveling between Johnson C. Smith University and Johnson & Wales University, use 5th St. as an alternate route. If traveling from the Wesley Heights area into Uptown, use I-77 to Brookshire Freeway as an alternate route. TRADE ST. -- expect delays on Trade St. between Cedar St., Tryon St., and Caldwell St. Use 5th St. or 6th St. as alternate routes. CALDWELL ST. -- various lanes of Caldwell St. will be blocked between Trade St. (near Time Warner Cable Arena), Brookshire Freeway, and Parkwood Ave. Use North Tryon St. as an alternate route between North Charlotte/No Da and Uptown Charlotte. NORTH DAVIDSON ST. -- expect delays on North Davidson St. between 35th St. and Parkwood Ave. Use Craighead Rd. to North Tryon St. as an alternate route between No Da and Uptown. THE PLAZA -- various lanes will be blocked on The Plaza between 35th St. and Central Ave. Use Sugar Creek Rd. to Eastway Dr. to Central Ave. as an alternate route. CENTRAL AVE. -- the marathon will impact traffic on two sections of Central Ave. between The Plaza and 7th St.. Use Briar Creek Rd. to Independence Blvd. as an alternate route traveling toward Uptown. 7th ST. -- expect delays on 7th St. between Central Ave. and McDowell St. Use Hawthorne Ln. to Elizabeth Ave. as an alternate route between Elizabeth and Uptown Charlotte. McDOWELL ST. -- various lanes will be blocked on McDowell St. between 7th St. and Martin Luther King Blvd. Use Davidson St. as an alternate route.
