Severe Weather Team 9 Detailed Forecast By

    Meteorologist Profile

    Mecklenburg County
Here's a word we don't typically use to describe our weather in July; comfortable!. As we head through the rest of the holiday weekend, we'll be tracking a cold front which promises to bring with it a good chance of showers and t-storms for Sunday. You probably don't want to see rain on the weekend, but after three weeks of dry weather we could use it.
Tonight: Moonlit skies with morning lows in the low 60s.
Independence Day: Morning sunshine gives way to gathering clouds during the afternoon, as we warm into the upper 80s. Temps. will fall to about 80 as the fireworks displays get underway; and while we will see clouds, no rain is expected.
Sunday: The cold front touches off showers and t-storms at about any time, with highs in the mid 80s.
Monday: The front settles to our south, but close enough that we'll see a 20% chance of rain (higher south of Charlotte). Afternoon highs will rise to the mid to upper 80s.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Partly sunny with a return to "July heat"; we'll top off around 90.
