CHARLOTTE FORECAST: Temps rise as storm chances weaken

Conditions were muggy again Thursday morning, but rain chances will remain quite low. A few more downpours are likely to fire up later in the afternoon and evening.

Highs will warm back into the mid-80s but will climb even higher Friday and Saturday. We will warm back to near 90 degrees, with heat index values reaching the low-to-mid 90s.

Storm chances are looking lower for the next few days and much drier air arrives by the end of the weekend.

Tropical Storm Cindy made landfall along the Gulf coast around 4:45 a.m. The majority of the rain from Cindy will stay to our north and west through Saturday, and very little precipitation is expected to make it into the western Carolinas.

Next week starts a good stretch of cooler and drier air.
