FORECAST: Heat, humidity build ahead of holiday weekend storms

WEDNESDAY: The heat and humidity will both climb a bit more Thursday, and that may lead to a few more storms popping up by the afternoon.

The best chance for rain remains in the mountains and foothills, but one or two storms will make a run into the metro area. High temperatures will warm into the mid-to-upper 80s.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY: Above average temperatures will continue for the second half of the work week, with highs in the mid-80s.

Humidity will continue to rise, making conditions feel a tad uncomfortable for those outside for longer periods of time. Rain chances also increase, with a few scattered showers possible throughout the Carolinas.

SOGGY HOLIDAY WEEKEND: The holiday weekend may start out dry on Saturday before a coastal storm gets closer to the Carolinas.

Rain chances start to go up on Sunday, with scattered downpours returning. A better shot for wet weather is likely on Memorial Day. It doesn’t look like a washout altogether at this point, just scattered activity.

For those traveling to the coast this weekend, plan on the rain as well.

With showers expected, temperatures will be slightly cooler, with highs for the end of the holiday weekend back in the upper 70s.
