FORECAST: Scattered downpours, extreme heat continue into PGA's final day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SATURDAY: Extreme heat and humidity will continue throughout the area.

The heat index in Charlotte reach 97 degrees Saturday and is expected to be near 100 degrees Sunday during the final round of the PGA Championship.

Thunderstorms stayed in the mountains and foothills Saturday. The heat index will still be around 90 degrees at 9 p.m.

There were mostly cloudy skies throughout the day with temperatures warming to around 87 degrees.

Channel 9's team of meteorologists will be watching storms closely this weekend to see if there is an impact on the PGA Championship again.

SUNDAY: A front is lingering over Charlotte over the next several days. It could bring scattered showers and storms each day, mainly in the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s with heat index values in the low 90s.
