FORECAST: Cold front won't have drastic impact on warm temps

Highs fall back into the mid-70s by Wednesday afternoon, which is very close to average.

Clouds will continue to build throughout the rest of the week, allowing temperatures to fall back into the middle 70s.

A few very scattered showers will be possible Thursday night into Friday, our only chance for rain the next seven days.

Most models are keeping rainfall accumulation well under half an inch, which is bad news as the Carolinas continue to slip into the start of a drought.

Right now, 40 percent of the Tar Heel state remains in an “abnormally dry” category, but with limited rain chances looking ahead the rest of the month, conditions are expected to get worse.

Although conditions will stay dry, it will be decent weather once again as we look ahead to the upcoming weekend.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 70s -- which is average for this time of year.

Sunshine also continues both Saturday and Sunday.
