MAY OUTLOOK: Wet, warm weather looks to continue through the month

After one of the driest March and April months in the Carolinas, conditions are finally turning around as we head into the month of May.

Over the weekend, areas specifically in York and Lancaster counties received over 10 inches of rain, leading to minor flooding conditions Saturday evening.

Rainfall amounts did vary throughout the region, with the Charlotte airport only picking up 1.2 inches throughout the weekend.

For those wishing for the rain to continue, May brings good news.

The newest Climate Prediction Center outlook for the month of May keeps the Carolinas both warmer and wetter than average.

Typically, the city of Charlotte receives just over 3 inches of rain throughout the month.

As for the forecast for the first week of May, we will keep the unsettled weather around for the first couple of days.

Thunderstorms will be possible both Monday and Tuesday, running the risk of very heavy rain, strong winds and small hail.

Lingering showers will still be around as we start the day on Wednesday, before sunshine returns as we head into the weekend.
