TRACKING: Storms moving through Carolinas ahead of muggy afternoon

Wet start: Severe Weather Center 9 was tracking heavy rain and the possibility of storms moving through the Charlotte region Friday morning. We are under a slight risk for severe storms today and the top threats will be heavy rain and strong damaging winds, with a low threat for tornadoes.

Muggy afternoon: The metro area will continue to see periods of rain pushing in throughout the afternoon. It will stay warm and muggy today, with highs in the upper 70s.

Weekend outlook: Heading into Friday night and the overnight hours, lingering showers will be possible. The rainy weather will clear early Saturday, making way for more sunshine and highs close to 70 degrees by the afternoon. Expect another nice and sunny day for Sunday, with cooler temps in the low 60s.
