TRACKING THE TROPICS: Monitoring Tropical Depression Four in the Atlantic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a developing system in the middle of the Atlantic. Tropical Depression Four is moving to the west-northwest at 21 mph.

As of Thursday morning, the system is producing 30 mph winds, currently located roughly 1,260 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

The forecast for Tropical Depression Four is to stay north of the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by Monday morning.

Due to an increase in shear and dry air, this system is expected to stay as a tropical depression and not strengthen into a tropical storm through the weekend.
