The first of two debates this week in South Carolina was a rather electric affair, as the five remaining GOP candidates for the White House sparred on a series of issues with frontrunner Mitt Romney taking most of the jabs from his colleagues.
The shots at Romney that won the most attention seemed to come from Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, with Rick Perry also in there as well. Ron Paul meanwhile pushed his brand of Republican/Libertarian politics, though he took some shots at Santorum - they are locked in a battle for third at this point in the polls.
As for Romney, he parried most of the attacks against him and did not lose his cool, though he seemed unsure of his footing at times. Still, it was more of a normal debate for Romney with no big goofs and no killer lines.
The biggest cheers seemed to be for Gingrich, who returned to a winning debate formula by focusing on policy and locking horns with one of the questioners, in this case Juan Williams of Fox News.
Who do you think won, and why?
