9 Food Drive donations help provide hope and healing

“I like being able to provide a service to people in need and their children,” said Tonya Sullins, shelter kitchen manager at Safe Alliance.
Safe Alliance is an agency that offers an array of services for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. One of those services is providing three meals a day for residents of the Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter.
“On average, we provide 900 meals per week,” said Sullins.
Safe Alliance is one of more than 700 agencies that rely on food distribution services from Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
“I shop at Second Harvest once a week. They offer fantastic pricing for non-profit organizations, which in turn helps us to provide balanced meals to the communities we serve,” said Sullins.
WSOC-TV has teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina for the last 13 years to help end hunger in our area during the 9 Food Drive
“Without Second Harvest, organizations such as Safe Alliance would be drastically impacted in their ability to provide three square meals a day to people in need,” said Sullins. “They are helping to vastly improve lives of people in need of basic necessities.”
You too can help by donating canned or nonperishable food items now until Sunday at any Ashley HomeStore, Showmars and E.R. Plumbing Services. A complete list of donation locations is listed here.
Because the Food Bank supplies food and essential grocery items to hundreds of agencies, a monetary donation helps all of these organizations.  For every $1 the food bank receives, they distribute seven pounds of food. You can donate now by clicking on this link.
