Caldwell County Stuff a Bus events set for Wednesday

Caldwell County residents will have a chance to support local students and win special prizes on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at two different locations: Caldwell County Education Center in Lenoir and Fairvalue in Granite Falls.

Communities In Schools of Caldwell County, Teacher Treasures A Resource Center, Caldwell County Education Center and KICKS 103.3 will host the Stuff a Bus events from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help ease the financial burden of families who cannot afford to purchase school supplies.

“Communities In Schools of Caldwell County collects thousands of supplies each year. With the help of Teacher Treasures, all supplies are distributed directly to students and teachers,” said Dana Rosario, director of volunteer and community relations at Communities in Schools of Caldwell County. “This year, the need is even greater. Many of our students may not have the materials needed to attend school virtually ― the supply drive will help aid the school system with remote and blended learning classrooms.”

During the event, donors can drive up and drop off their school supply items.

We are all in this together.

Adhering to social distancing guidelines, staff and volunteers will wear masks and gloves, have tables set 6 feet apart and will keep donations boxed until prepped for distribution.

The first 50 donors, between both locations, will receive a gift bag. Participants will also have the chance to win a $25 gift card and spin a wheel for giveaways.

The KICKS Street Team, Prize Cow and Barry the Blackberry will make an appearance.

In partnership with WSOC-TV’s 9 School Tools campaign, Communities in Schools of Caldwell County is collecting school supplies for students in grades K-12. These items play a big role in preparing students to be successful in the upcoming school year.

9 School Tools covers 22 counties and is the largest school supply drive in the Carolinas. The donations from 9 School Tools stay in the county where they're donated, so any items donated at the Stuff a Bus events will benefit students in the Caldwell County School District.
