While York County students are preparing to return to school in a few weeks, The Heart2Heart Foundation is providing resources to make their return that much easier.

On Saturday, its annual Back 2 School Block Party will be held at the Rock Hill Galleria Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organizers said that they want to provide resources to prepare students for a healthier and more productive school year.

"Our goal as The Heart2Heart Foundation is to help parents and guardians connect with resources that can help them live healthier lives," said Sheila Caldwell, president and founder of The Heart2Heart Foundation.

The Heart2Heart Foundation is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to raising awareness about the number one killer of women and men in America, heart disease.

Event activities will include free health screenings, dental checks, vision screenings and fitness activities. There will also be a backpack distribution to 2,000 students who pre-register for the event.

In partnership with WSOC-TV's 9 School Tools campaign, The Heart2Heart Foundation is collecting school supplies for students in grades K-12. These items play a big role in preparing students to be successful in the upcoming school year.

WSOC-TV's 9 Family Focus sponsor, Showmars, will be donating 200 mini-meals to be distributed during the event. Attendees will also be encouraged to donate school supplies at the Showmars Galleria Mall location. Donations collected will benefit students in the York County School District.

"The school supplies collected at this event and our other 9 School Tools partners, helps provide resources so teachers aren't struggling to make sure children have what they need to be successful," said Caldwell.
