Charlotte Fire Department opens applications for Camp Ignite

The Charlotte Fire Department announced that the application period for Camp Ignite 2021 is now open.

Camp Ignite is a free hands-on resident camp that focuses on the development of teamwork, self-confidence and leadership skills in young women by utilizing fundamental firefighting skills.

During this 4 night/5 day deployment, campers will be housed in air conditioned urban search and rescue tents on the Charlotte Fire Department Training Academy property.

The curriculum provides a safe, dynamic and interactive environment, along with an opportunity to train alongside professional female firefighters.

Participants will learn skills associated with search and rescue techniques, hose-line advancement, rappelling, ladders and more.

Camp Ignite educates young women to follow their dreams by introducing them to a future of limitless opportunities, regardless of gender.

Registration is open to all high school girls in Charlotte and the surrounding areas.

The application period will be closing April 16th at 11:59 p.m. There is a limited number of spots open due to COVID-19 precautions.
