Free food distribution on Friday

In an effort to help combat food insecurity in our area, Loaves & Fishes and Northside Baptist Church are partnering for a pop up food share this Friday to distribute fresh produce and dairy to local neighbors in need.

“We have seen the great need in our community during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Veronica Washington, community outreach coordinator at Northside Baptist Church. “We hope this can help the burden so many families have right now when they have to decide on how to pay their bills or feed their family.”

This summer Loaves and Fishes has distributed boxes of fresh produce and dairy to 25,000 Mecklenburg County residents experiencing food insecurity through the Farmers to Families Food Box program.

The distribution will take place on Friday, Sept. 18 from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte.

This isn’t the only way the church has been caring for those in need during the crisis. It is working with the organization Community Hub, which has delivered tens of thousands of meals since the COVID-19 crisis began.

Loaves & Fishes is a network of emergency food pantries in Mecklenburg County that provides nutritionally balanced groceries to neighbors in need.
