“People know that kids benefit from a positive mentor in their life,” Boyd said.  “Kids today are very different from when I was a kid, and they have enormous barriers to overcome.”
Promise Youth Development started by serving six girls.  It now serves and feeds over 40 boys and girls from elementary to high school with no cost to them.  Boyd sometimes foots the program costs herself to make dreams come true for youth in our community.
“We have to be patient and consistent because a lot of kids have been exposed to great levels of trauma,” Boyd said. “We have to consistently nurture them to help them grow and thrive.”
