Volunteers feed homeless residents on 4th of July

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Life Turning Point Ministries hosted a community barbecue for those individuals living on the street or in need of a hot meal Thursday.

The grab-and-go barbecue was enough to feed nearly 200 people, event organizers said.

“We feel like people just need a hug,” said Eric Williams of Life Turning Point Ministries. “They just need to know someone cares, that someone is thinking about them and that someone is thinking about them and that is the sole message of what we’re doing here today.”

The event, hosted along North Tryon Street in north Charlotte, was completely staffed by volunteers and all the food was free to those who needed it.
