Spend your Veteran’s Day weekend recognizing service men and women and learning more about their bravery and sacrifices at the 11th annual Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show happening Saturday and Sunday.
The family-friendly event takes place at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport and features more than 40 World War II aircraft, reenactors, children’s activities and vendors.
Take a helicopter ride and talk with pilots. See a stunning Vietnam helicopter battle reenactment, a C-47 that flew in Normandy, a wing walker make his way around a moving aircraft and hundreds of military reenactors representing various time periods and countries.
“This event is one of the best educational opportunities around to teach the younger generation about the sacrifices and accomplishments our service men and women have made to ensure our freedoms,” said event organizer Pete Hovanec in a release.
“Historically, the event is great, but there is also a ‘Wow’ factor that will leaving you gasping for air as you see what these amazing aircraft are capable of.”
Ticket prices at the gates are $15 for adults, $10 for students ages 12-18 and $5 for veterans. Children under age 12 are admitted free.
