Have the time of your life at Dirty Dancing Festival

North Carolina's scenic Lake Lure provided the setting for one of the most popular and enduring romantic classics, "Dirty Dancing." Now, the town plays host to the annual Dirty Dancing Festival, a weekend-long celebration featuring beach and soul music bands, fun competitions  -- including the infamous Lake Lift Competition -- watermelon games and, of course, lots of dance performances.

The tenth annual festival happens Sept. 13-14. This year's special guest will be Academy award-winning composer Franke Previte, who co-wrote the iconic No. 1 hit "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" and the Top 5 hit "Hungry Eyes."

Friday night's festivities include a lakeside screening of the movie. On Saturday, the event really kicks into high gear with lots of entertainment and fanfare.

Advance admission to the Saturday dance and music festival costs $25 for adults and $10 for kids ages 4-11. If you pay at the event, tickets will increase to $30 for adults and $15 for kids. Children age 3 and younger are admitted free.
