• Parade celebrates MLK legacy

    Updated:

A Charlotte tradition since 1981, the MLK Holiday Parade in uptown is a family-friendly event that celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Featuring marching bands, community organizations, floats, dance performances and more, the 2019 parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19. The parade route will follow Tryon Street from 9th to Stonewall.

The city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County have come together to expand the observance of the slain civil rights leader's legacy through additional events taking place Jan. 15-21.
