2 killed, 2 injured in Alexander Co. crash

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C.,None — brightcove.createExperiences();

Two people died and two others were seriously hurt in a Friday morning crash south of Taylorsville.

Troopers said they think the driver of a Subaru crossed the center line on Millersville Road and slammed into an SUV.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off the station wagon to get the driver out.

"The SUV lifted -- the tires came plum off the ground they hit so hard," said witness Michael Stacy.

There were three people in the SUV and one person in the Subaru.

Stacy said he began praying as he ran to help after the crash.

"The whole time before I got there, because I don't like seeing stuff like that, but I had no choice. Everybody was injured," Stacy said. "(I) tried to get them to lay still and comfort them until someone got here."

Troopers said they are still trying to find out what caused the driver to cross into oncoming traffic.
