ABC reported that the incident occurred in Kabul when a gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform opened fire on Americans and other Afghans.
The Pentagon confirmed that 15 other security personnel were injured.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack and described the death as a “foreign officer.”
