CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An American Airlines flight heading from Raleigh to Dallas had to make an emergency landing early Tuesday morning at Charlotte Douglas International Airport after reporting a maintenance issue, according to a spokesperson for the airline.
The plane, which was carrying 98 passengers and five crew members, landed safely just after 7 a.m.
“American Airlines Flight 2428, from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport diverted to Charlotte International Airport due to an indicator light in the cockpit reporting a possible mechanical issue,” the airline said in a statement.
“The aircraft, an MD80 with 98 passengers and a crew of five, landed safely and taxied to the gate. Our maintenance team is currently evaluating the aircraft. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, and are working to get them to DFW as soon as possible,” it went on to say.
Nobody was hurt.
