Former President Jimmy Carter has been released from the hospital after breaking his hip while leaving his Plains, Georgia, home to go turkey hunting Monday morning.
"President Carter was released from Phoebe Sumter Medical today and will continue to recuperate at home," The Carter Center said in a statement Thursday, according to WSB. "He will undergo physical therapy, as part of his recovery from hip replacement surgery. President Carter plans to teach Sunday school at Maranatha Baptist Church this weekend."
The statement also said former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, 91, felt faint. She was admitted to the hospital overnight for observation and testing and left with her husband Thursday morning.
“Both President and Mrs. Carter extend their thanks to the many people who sent well wishes the past few days.”
Carter, 94, fell at his home in Monday.
"He is recovering comfortably from surgery to repair a broken hip at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia," The Carter Center said in a statement Monday. "His surgeon stated that the surgery was successful. His wife, Rosalynn, is with him.
“President Carter said his main concern is that turkey season ends this week, and he has not reached his limit. He hopes the State of Georgia will allow him to rollover the unused limit to next year.”
