• Calm and dry outlook for New Year's Eve

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte will be wrapping up 2013 with more sunshine Tuesday and temperatures warming into the mid-50s. Calm and dry weather remains in play New Year’s Eve with temps likely hovering in the upper-30s by midnight.

Thursday’s rain chance is starting to look a bit better, but still not big rain. This will come ahead of the big blast of cold air expected on Friday.

New Year’s will be dry and not terribly cold while rain should be moving into the area by late morning Thursday. That rain will change to snow for the mountains as the cold air moves in.

Temperatures on Friday may barely reach 40 degrees -- many neighborhoods north will not get out of the mid-30s.
