Cold snap coming to an end as weekend arrives

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the end of the week approaches, so too does the end of the area's cold snap.

Temperatures Friday will be held down, thanks to northeast winds. Many spots around Charlotte won't even hit 50 degrees.

With the colder air in place as the next weather-maker arrives Saturday morning, a small chance for flurries or light freezing sprinkles are possible. There won't be any accumulation though and may be gone before you knew it was even there.

Sunshine will return by midday Saturday, but the real warm-up starts on Sunday as temperatures will climb into the 60s.
