• Cool start to the week but heat won't stay away for long

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It will be a cool start to the week -- especially Monday morning -- as highs temperatures will only warm to the lower 80s Monday afternoon with sunny skies.

Rain-free conditions will remain in place for now, but more downpours will return later this week.

The heat will start to build up by Wednesday as the Charlotte area will approach 90 degrees again. The humidity will also be building up as the week rolls on.

The best chance for thunderstorms in the metro area will be Thursday and Friday.
