• Family Focus: Facility celebrates 1 year of providing safe haven for men

CONCORD, N.C. - A facility in Concord is celebrating one year of providing a safe haven for men recovering from addiction.

Serenity House is a home for men who've been through treatment for alcohol or other drugs.

Organizers said it provides a place to stay while they learn tools to become independent, responsible, taxpaying citizens.

“In the past year, as of this morning, we have provided 2,228 clean and sober days to men who might otherwise not have had that opportunity,” said Hope Haven President and CEO Alice Harrison.

The eight beds at Serenity House are an expansion of a nonprofit called Hope Haven in Charlotte.

The facilities could use volunteers and donations.
