FORECAST: Belk Bowl temperatures to drop into 30s

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — We are stuck under clouds Tuesday evening and it will stay cooler, but the good news is we will stay dry.

Temperatures for the start of the Belk Bowl will be near 40 degrees, cooling to the mid-30s by the end of the game.

Clouds will stick around overnight and it will be a cool start to the day Wednesday, with temps in the upper 20s.

You can expect a mix of sun and clouds for the last day of 2014, with highs in the upper 40s.

As we bring in the New Year, it will be fairly clear and chilly. By midnight, temps will be in the mid-30s.

There will be plenty of sunshine for New Year's Day, with highs in the low 50s.

Our next system arrives as we head into the weekend. There's a chance for some showers late Friday night, but the best chance for rain will be Saturday.

Unfortunately, it looks like we will be dealing with soggy conditions for the Panthers game Saturday; the heaviest rain will move in overnight into Sunday morning.

The good news is, temps will warm to the mid-50s Saturday and 60s by Sunday. Once the cold front moves through Sunday, it will knock our temps back down to the 50s for Monday.

Forecast highlights:

  • TUESDAY: Temps to drop into mid-30s by end of Belk Bowl
  • WEDNESDAY: Dry skies for New Year's plans. Temps in the mid-30s by midnight.
  • LOOK AHEAD: More rain for the weekend. Not heavy, but wet for the Panthers game.
