Franklin Graham: Fla. Pastor Wrong To Burn Qurans

GAINESVILLE, Fla.,None — Thank you for completing this non-scientific survey. What do you think of a Florida pastor's plan to burn copies of the Qur'an? What do you think of a Florida pastor's plan to burn copies of the Qur'an? I don't care - he has the right to do it. I'm concerned - it could spur anti-American violence.

Evangelist Franklin Graham is joining the chorus of religious leaders asking a Florida pastor to cancel his plans to burn Qurans on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The son of Billy Graham has had his own controversial history with Islam, describing the religion as evil in 2001.

But he said Pastor Terry Jones is going too far if he burns Qurans this Saturday. He said he has tried to call Jones but hasn't made contact.

Graham, in a statement issued by his North Carolina church, said it's always wrong to deface or destroy any religion's holy writings, even those someone disagrees with. He said Jones has the right as an American to burn the Qurans as a political act, but that doesn't make it right.
