Hey there! It's Kacey again — I know you missed me!

I wrote my first blog for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in February, and here I am 149 days later writing my second blog.  A lot has changed in my life over the last 149 days:  I turned the BIG 30!

I was fortunate enough to celebrate my birthday with family and friends from all over the country, including some of my friends I lived in the Virgin Islands with.  I had a prom-themed birthday party (I told you in my last blog how much I love costumes!) and everyone who came donated money to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.   Talk about the BEST birthday present ever!

Donations from that night and the several generous donations from friends and family over the last 5 months have helped me to hit my goal of raising $1,800 for the Avon Walk.  But guess what? I'M NOT STOPPING at $1,800!   I'm not stopping, because the women and men who are diagnosed with breast cancer can't just throw up their hands and say, "Okay I'm sick of this, I'm going to stop having breast cancer."   If they can't stop, then I'm not stopping.

It's easy to let everyday annoyances block you from achieving your goals.   For instance, as I'm writing this blog right now, I'm thinking about how my car wouldn't start this morning.  How annoying is that!!  I just walked down to my co-worker's office to complain and realized I have so much to be thankful for.  I'm healthy!   I may have a dead battery in my car, but I have my health.

So instead of sulking over a dead battery than can be easily fixed, I'm going to walk after work to get ready for our 39.3 mile journey in October, and I'm going to reach out to even more friends and family members about donating to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.  With every step I take on my walk and with every email or Facebook message I send, I'm going to smile.   A little dead car battery is not going to stop me from smiling or stop me from pushing forward on this journey.

As I mentioned, a lot has changed over the last 149 days since my first blog post.  I can't wait to continue this journey and see where I'll be come October 26 when I take my first step on our 39 mile walk to fight breast cancer.  I can't wait!

If you would like to donate to Team 9/64, my Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team, it's simple! Click here.   You won't regret it!  The more of us who walk (and donate!), the more of us survive.
