Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a stabbing on Grandview Lane in Lincolnton at about 9:20 p.m. Friday. When deputies arrived on scene, they found Donald Lee Hoyle, Jr., 31, lying on the ground in front of the mobile home from a stab wound to the chest.
A witness told investigators 54-year-old Gary Farmer stabbed Hoyle.
Deputies said they had responded to an earlier altercation at the same location at about 8:45 p.m., but no one wished to press charges.
Hoyle was transported to Carolinas Medical Center–Lincoln where he later died.
Authorities charged Farmer with first-degree murder. His first court appearance hearing is scheduled for Monday.
