'It feels good giving back': Restaurant owner, employees surprise shoppers by paying for groceries

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A random act of kindness brought several grocery shoppers to tears in eastern North Carolina.

A restaurant owner surprised her employees by having them all meet outside a Food Lion in Knightdale.

She challenged them to walk in, make a connection with a random stranger, follow them to the checkout and pay for their groceries.

The employees helped almost a dozen families and spent about $2,100 of the restaurant's money on groceries.

A restaurant employee said, “Their mind was just making sure that they were taking care of their family, and for us to just slide in and say, 'I got this,’ surprise. Tears, it was amazing. It feels good giving back, it feels good.”
