1 of 3 suspects on the run after Fort Mill police chase ends in crash

FORT MILL, S.C. — Officers are looking for a suspect after two others were arrested following a police chase Friday morning in Fort Mill.

Police said they were involved in a pursuit at around 11 a.m. when a driver refused to pull over. Officers said they were attempting to stop the driver for speeding.

The pursuit ended when the car they were chasing overturned with three suspects inside on Banks Street at Sparkling Brook Road near the Catawba River.

One of the suspects was arrested immediately after the crash but two others got away.

A short time later, police said they found another suspect, but that the third was still on the run.

After searching the car, police said they found guns, narcotics and magazines and ammunition.

Brenden Demarkus Johnson, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights and siren, and no South Carolina driver’s license.

Davon Sharif Thompson, 27, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
