LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. - Deputies said a suspect wanted for shooting and killing a man in Lancaster County was captured in Alabama Tuesday morning.
Investigators said 17-year-old Jarod Keshun McNeil waived extradition and is now back in Lancaster County.
McNeil was identified by deputies as a suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Jaquavious Neeley, of Rock Hill. Neeley was killed Sunday afternoon at a home on Carmel Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies said McNeil was a passenger in a black Nissan Altima when he arrived at the home armed with a long gun. They said he fired at least one shot at Neeley, who was on the porch.
Deputies said McNeil was driven away from the scene in the Altima, which authorities later found and examined.
Investigators said they initially charged the driver of the Altima, 19-year-old Jonovan Hensley, with accessory after the fact of a felony. After receiving more information, deputies said they charged Hensley with murder on Thursday.
“McNeil turned himself in at the Lanett Police Department in Chambers County, Alabama, early Tuesday morning. He was held at the Chambers County Detention Facility. McNeil waived extradition and as soon as he was cleared for transport, we went to get him," said Sheriff Barry Faile. "We continue to investigate this case. We do not anticipate additional arrests although additional charges against McNeil and Hensley are possible.”
