Police: 1 person dead, 3 hurt after 2 cars collide in west Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed and three others were hurt after two vehicles crashed in west Charlotte Friday night, police confirmed.

Officers responded to the collision just before 8 p.m. on Little Rock Road near David Avenue.

Police said a driver going southbound went too fast into a curve, lost control and hit an oncoming car. The driver who lost control, 52-year-old Jay La Mour Johnson, died at the scene.

The people in the other car, including two children, were taken to the hospital, but they are expected to be OK.

Little Rock Road was shut down for several hours while officers investigated the crash.
