CHARLOTTE — Two people were seriously injured after a car accident on East Independence Boulevard Saturday night.
An official said a vehicle was traveling west bound on Independence when it crossed over the median. It hit the car traveling east bound in front of a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
One of the vehicles burst into flames.

The official said the collision was more at an angle and not directly head-on.
A stretch of Highway 74 was closed while crews cleaned up the scene.
The accident is under investigation. It is unknown if charges will be filed.
Officials will reconstruct the accident scene and interview the drivers involved to determine why the car traveled over the median.
